Another Barn Find 1980

I found this 1980 FJ-40 in my father in laws barn about 10 years ago and it took all that time to talk him into selling it to me. He used it in the late 1980's for deer hunting and it has been sitting in the barn since the early 1990's. I purchased it last summar for $2500 and began restoring it. The bad news is that the cruiser was abused and appears to have been wrecked. It has pre 1979 bib and bezel. The good news is that it only has 59K original miles and there is very little rust (only rust was a quarter size hole in the floor pan). I had to do all the usual mechanical stuff such as clean the tank, rebuild the carburator, completly replace the brakes, rebuild the front end and replace all the hoses and belts. I am now finished with the mechanical and have begun doing the body work. I have been taking it appart on the weekends and painting it in the back yard. Hope the neighbors don't complain. Should have done this fall. See the attached photos.

I personally prefer the earlier bezel like yours. Also the 1970 blinkers. Check them out, less bulgy and more classy IMHO.

Looks good. Those rear shackles are a bit long.
