Just wanted to share a cheap armrest option I installed today.

I previously was using a different armrest but this is a little cleaner looking and is an expensive mod to really improve longer drives.

It's mounted right into the drop section of the console with some thick washers to space it out.

Here is the link on Amazon - $8.95

Ugly, but effective I bet. This is probably the worst thing about these trucks, seriously! I have to lean over to rest my elbow on the console and it tweaks my back. I can't stand not having a good arm rest. I have a bag full of winter clothes that I put on top of my console like a pillow, it's very comfortable but it's a real pain to always move around lol. In a perfect scenario, I'd move the e-brake to under the steering wheel and run a full width console. I wish there was an easy way to do that.

Agreed. It's nothing pretty but for less than $10 it is very effective. In a perfect world, I'd score some 100 series seats with the integrated armrest and call it a day.

Tax returns are coming. If your somewhat handy with a welder you could just put one of these in your rig and all of you armrest woes will go away ! They come with a pad that goes on top, its black, I threw mine away as I felt the metal portion was high enough for me.

Is that a tuffy? How wide is it? Did you have to do anything to the e-brake? I'm definitely leaning towards something like this. That looks like a really nice setup.

Yes its a Tuffy, 006 I believe. You do not have to do anything with the e-brake, it fits nicely. Does require you to figure out the mounting though. I inverted the lower bracket that came with it and welded it in place. I also welded the cup holder higher than the factory mounting position as it allowed me to get the console further forward. One of the better mod's I've done, especially since it facilitated an in cab fuse box and inverter all mounted to the console.

I modded a Tuffy Box as well. Not a cheap solution, but not too many options for an 80 -- back in the day.

I've even thinking about an arm rest solution myself. I have a 95 BMW 525i that needs more work than I'm willing to put into it. It has the power heated leather, with the fold up/down arm rests. Looks like it should be pretty easY to make it fit. Might have to fab a mount r 2, but nothing too serious. Then of course, wiring the seat controls and heater.
