After 9 years and 91k miles my 2016 LC has its first rattle. There is a subtle ticking sound coming somewhere in the drivers door/window whenever I hit any bump or imperfection in the road. The sound is subtle but it’s noticeable to the driver, and I’m particularly sensitive to noises like this. It has gotten worse over time so that it’s ticking all the time unless I’m on perfectly smooth asphalt. I can turn up the music to drown it out but I would like to fix it if I can.

The noise is diminished and less frequent if I barely touch the down window button, slightly cracking the window. So I’m assuming it’s in the window mechanism?

Any suggestions on how I can fix this? I am guessing the dealership will just look at me funny if I try to have them find the problem.

Thanks

Is it perhaps the little plastic piece rattling on the bottom side of the mirror? I chased a similar noise on the passenger side and though it was related to window position but it wasn't. The act of opening the window changed the airflow which stopped the rattle.

Thanks, but it’s not the mirror. It sounds like it’s in the vehicle and over my left shoulder…. I would have guessed it was the door latch except for the fact that cracking the window changes and partially eliminates the sound.

This is a very subtle noise, you don’t hear it if you’re not in the driver’s seat. But I would love to track it down if I can. It’s the only rattle the vehicle has after 9 years.
