I have been having this weird noise coming from under the glove box when the A/C or heat is on. The noise is like a whine when the A/C is on and sounds like clicks when the heat is on. Has anybody else experienced this? Any suggestions? This is driving me crazy! Thanks in advance.

I know that noise when the A/C is on. There was a thread on it a few months back. Not heard it with heat on and assume it's a compressor related noise that occurs randomly.

mine does it as well.. it's getting louder with age -- one year old now. My guess, it sounds like the blower fan motor, low-speed hum, tick, tick, tick... increase the fan speed a notch -- the noise should go away.

Just a thought, it has happened with mine a few times

If you have parked under a tree and small leaves or pine needles have gone through the vent in front of the windscreen, they can get down to the fan and rub on the blade making a wirring noise, or sometimes a tick. Generally playing with the speed, changing the air from recirc to fresh and back a few times can sometimes upset the airflow enought to dislodge them. They leaves or debris can also be picked up from inside when you get in with dirty boots etc. The recirc air vent has 2 pickups on mine, one at the top behind the dash and one at the bottom right at floor level. I have now installed airconditioning filter wool over the inlets to stop the dirt and stuff entering the evaporator.

The other noise it could be is the refrigerant flow through the TX valve which can make a wirring sound, and the ticking sound when you sre on heat can come from the thermal expansion of the heater core, just like exhaust or engine heat clicking. although it should generally last only a few minutes if it is that.

My '99 LX has been making low speed fan chirping noise for years now. Sometimes it is more noticeable than others.

Seems like I read a TSB mentioning fan motor bearings...but I'm not going to drop the $ on a new fan motor just to eliminate this minor noise. (If the replacement fan motor cost is calculated anything like the rearview mirror, the stealer will want about $300 for the fan motor.)

Another minor quirk in a gracefully aging vehicle, imo.

I noticed a chirping noise/vibration in my vehicle last week. It drove me crazy coz I could not find what was causing it. Turns out - it was my sunglasses that I had dropped into the hi/lo shifter rattling against the center console.
