I have looked at those stands in the past. I just don't think I'd use it enough, not to mention space is at a premium. I generally take the hood off, or like I said, take off the clip for doing swaps. After you do it a few times, pulling the clip is not all that difficult.
I think for all the hook up work that you are doing putting the top end back together, the stand may well prove out to be a good way to go.
