If I am seeing correctly only nonUS vestions have the Amb doors. Can then be put on a US 60? If so where to get and how involved?

anything's possible-

a bit pricey, IMO.
but i gotta say, i'd like to replace the ever-more-rusting rear of my 84.

They are difficult to source in OZ as well. They were only fitted to maybe 20% of the 60 series and were often in vehicles used for outback or work related use.
They are mainly rusty or smacked up from loose trailer hitches.

I saw some mint front doors off a HJ60 at a wrecker recently and they were asking $850AUD ea
Nice doors are still fitted to nice cruisers.
You can pay over a $1200AUD ea for 75 series doors here.

The price on cruiserparts may seem high but if they have no rust or dents....

OK, they look cool as can be (well, maybe not 1500 bucks cool...) and I'm really tempted to buy 'em, but for the life of me I can't figure out how ambulance doors would be more practical than the convention US-styled door. I like being able to put the tailgate down on my 62 in my muddy ski resort parking lots, or to gain extra floorspace/ room to sleep on with the seats down, or the ability to lift up the window if I have to haul long lumber. None of that would be as do-able with the ambulance doors. I can see the advantage to them if you had the extra seating in the rear and the extended headroom option (so passengers could gain entry easier) but on a standard 60 series in the US would it make life any easier at all?
For you guys who have them, what are the advantages--besides coolness--to the ambulance door?

I don't even have a 60 yet I was just wondering if it was possible. You are right thought with enough money you can sure get about anything you want!!

A fella had a pair on eBay here for $800 a pair (and included a pair of sliding side windows) and didn't sell them. He dropped the price by $200 with each attempt on eBay. I think he ended up giving up trying to sell them as he couldn't get a buyer. They were pretty straight and rust free.
The only real benefit that I can see by having barn doors is that they may be better for your back since you dont have to manipulate any heavy items past the tailgate. They would be ok if you could mount the spare to them, tho.

I did read somewhere that the barn door hinge mounts are hidden behind the sheetmetal on 'tailgated' versions of the cruisers so it may not be to hard to convert.

The commercial versions of the cruisers have them here in Aus and there are a few of them about, but most have tailgates.

If US versions had barn doors and non-US versions had lift gates and tail gates, I suspect we would covet lift gates and tail gatesl. IMHO, lift gates and tail gates are vastly more useful than barn doors for all of the reasons stated above. Barn doors do look cool, though.

there are more pics of it(a 45LV) at TLC, that who did the door on the 60 and the resto on the 45LV

ESHELBYK Do you have a picture of the cruiser behind the 60? The paint on the fenders is the exact color I wanted to paint my 60.

One reason I think the barn doors would be useful is if you had a rack on top. You could stand on the bumper with the doors open and out of the way. It allows much easier access to whatever you have in the back as well without having to climb in. My vertically challenged girlfriend would appreciate being able to reach gear in there. She has a hard time getting anything out by reaching over the tailgate.

actaully a drop gate makes this even easier, just drop the bottom, close the top and stand on the bottom........been doing this for years.

2nd point is valid
