Am I really going to return to stock someday?

Hey all!

I've read a bunch of threads on 3rd row seats, for example, but they were mostly pretty old. I've amassed quite a pile of 100 parts- 3rd row, bumpers (front now, rear soon), running boards, roof rack, etc. It seems silly to store all of this stuff and unlikely that I will want to put it all back on eons from now when I sell this truck. What is the new consensus? Are you all keeping your extra parts and would it be a bad idea to sell them? Do they have any real value? It seems most mud members would already have these parts as extras. So is Ebay the place to start?

When I started wheeling the 100 hard enough to get body damage I quickly realized I either had to put it back to stock and buy a cheap rig to trash, or keep the 100 and face reality of my wheeling style. I sold all the parts and kind of regretted selling them. After a few months I realized it's never going back to stock and didn't really care about having to repurchase the OEM stuff. You can probably sell the aftermarket stuff for the same cost as new OEM components if the day ever comes for you to put it back to stock. If your 100 is pristine (not too scratched up) I would keep the bumpers. The running boards are useless and the roof rack doesn't hold much weight. If your 100 is scratched and has a few battle scars from rocks or trees sell the parts and buy more armor!

So I guess that brings up this question- Assuming when I sell this truck I'm not buying another 100 to transfer all the goodies to, is it worth more to a Mud member built or to "the public" stock?

I've always thought a built rig is worth more to the next guy that knows what it is. If I asked a soccer mom would she pay 10K for my rig, she would probably look at me silly. If I asked a 80 owner wanting to move to a 100, he would probably buy it at 10K...I can't really use my 100 as an example though...looks like she went through a hurricane, earth quake, battle field, and barbed wire fences.

I've noticed that the for sale rigs with the higher end mods seem to seller quicker on the classifieds here. Not too high end though. Isn't that pristine, color matched, triple locked, dual slee bumpered 100 still for sale for like $34,000 in the classifieds?

I too have a pile of parts. But I just threw away the stock suspension, front bumper, etc. I think it reached the point of no return. With the taxes in CA it doesn't make financial sense to sell a car you already paid $2k in taxes on.

34k? Dang, I should have looked here before I bought mine!...

It's schweet..... so much so that he decided to keep it I think.

Here's something to think about, as hard as it is to take in......
Let's hope that any of us are not, but lets say you were in a wreck that totaled your truck, or tried to cross a river that was too deep and shut you down, filling the cab with water. (I know a guy)

Insurance Co. totals your truck, but they're only willing to pay $3-5k over for "aftermarket" additions. You will be liable to return that vehicle to stock condition if you want to remove your add on parts. If you've got the space, hang on to it. If not, I bet you could find a set of running boards and a front bumper on here for a few 's.

Good point. Thanks for the insight! It also seems the only items of any value are perhaps the rear seats...
