Just received a new replacement alternator for 86 BJ70. There are a couple issues The vacuum oil inlet is on the engine side of the alternator housing which will not let the oil line reach. Also there is a small block on the engine side of the housing which will not let the alternator go fully up allowing installation of the belt. ONly have about 2 inches of travel in belt adjustment. I'm wondering is the alternator located on the drivers side in a RHD model or the passenger side.
Do yall think getting the oil hose spliced and lengthened, as well as grinding off the casting issue will get me going?

What engine? Pics help. Is it an actual factory replacement alternator or aftermarket
‘that works’? There will be slight variations thru the whole line of alternators. This is 12V? Where did you get the alternator from?
