Alternate to the 20004 Oil Filter

I think that this is what happened to the 20004 and the other high end filters.

Then go the TRD Performance, Pick Land Cruiser , Pick Oil Filter.

Just a thought.

I use WIX which has always exceeded the factory spec. WIX also has a Racing filter for this 1FZFE Engine.

The TRD filters are not at all special in my opinion. They look exactly like a Motorcraft filter that fits Ford/Mopar V8's. (In the same manner that the 15600-41010 will fit V8 Fords and Mopars.)

I have one kicking around at work, I'll cut it open.

I'd be interested in what you find as you know. Just please don't lose any digits as this is an awkward and surprisingly tough job unless you have one of those tools designed for it. And no, a 2800 ft/sec FMJ round would not be a good way to open it up.....

Exactly, ... The trouble is that the "viewing port" is a bit small...



Doug, agreed, cutting them open is a trip. I use a hacksaw and move around the peremeter, near the mounting flange. Not a very pretty job but effective. It is a poor procedure to use for a used filter but you can shake out the metal particles of an un-used one.

if anyone around me has one they want to sacrifice I have a wet bend say at work wich could make short work of it. I have one of the 2004s left so I am interested to see what the consensus is on it. The guys on the 3FE forum like the wix but I am not sure what I will do. then again with as many miles as I put on my truck now I have about 5 months to figure it out.
