That is a really beautiful 60! I have a little suggestion, which you may choose to use or not. If I read correctly you have a BDS lift right? I would take out the rear overload and put the stock one in if you have it. I've got the same springs (Ironman version but same thing pretty much) and that overload has been bugging the crap out of me. I have ran around with pretty much 300-500 lbs worth of tools, stereo, snowboarding equipment, and other random stuff all winter long and it rides pretty smooth aside from the stuff in the back flying all over the place (another suggestion, tie downs of some sort lol). I completely emptied my truck the other day, and it lifted the rear of the truck about 2 inches taller but it's very bouncy and the shackles are pretty much vertical again. The overload seems to be almost twice as thick as the stock one and it curves with the arch of the springs rather than being flat. It limits flex like crazy, makes for a bouncy ride, and hasn't seemed to allow my springs to break in at all because the minute they other leaves contact the overload, they pretty much quit flexing. I was even considering finding a way to put my Ironman overload in upside down for more travel, and carrying capacity. Im no pro though, and have no clue what you plan on carrying either. Sliding rear windows would be great too if you plan on sleeping inside it!

Thanks beatdown! I've read your postings before and appreciate your input. I will be adding a SROR rear bumper and sliders....Jim is working with me on the design.
I'm also building an internal platform, out of aluminum, to stack, rack and hold down the gear, tools and fridge.....but you do raise the question that I've been thinking of, which is if those springs will compress under that weight. I'll add more pix once I've gotten it set up.
Thanks.

And here's two of the inside.

Hey B- Thanks for posting those pictures!

Just FYI- the interior panels are made of black ABS and attached with removeable panel rivets thereby giving me the ability to access the interior with a screwdriver. It's amazing how nice the exposed interior metal looks under all the plastic OEM panels. The headliner was shorten to expose the a-b-c pillars. I just installed an old school am/fm radio and kept the original speakers. Even after 20 years those OEM speakers sound great.

Thanks for bringing this up again. I had looked at it a while ago, but in looking at the pictures really close I'm really liking all the exposed metal.

If Britklr is still around: How did you deal with the wiring bundle that goes over the rear wheel arch on the driver's side? How about stripping all that glue off?

I like the flooring in the back. Rubber with a diamond pattern?

what material did you use on the inside of the tailgate, id like to swap my carpet for something I dont need to worry about trashing

for expedition, one jerry can won.t cut it

get a long range tank and stil plan on jerry cans

what confuses you?

the long range tank? i know that one from personal experience. stock tank and three jerry cans wasn't enough for four days in the swell.

Sorry for the delay...got real busy! The wiring I simply re-covered with black cloth wiring tape and left it exposed on the passenger side.

The panels are black ABS from a local plastic dealer and easily cut with a hand jigsaw. I used a heat gun to mold the ABS around the wiring loom.

The exposed metal is under all that cheap plastic in the back of the 60. Once removed I used "prepsol" to clean off the tape residue and hit it with some matching silver paint.

Hey Britklr

I love those door panels, any way when you have a chance can you post a closer pic on those rivet job. i think that my next project. PLEASE! any other tips i need to know?

sweeeeet door panels

hey brit-
x2 on those door panels...just sweet! did you use ABS on the back doors too?

it reminds me of wagongear's tailgates & rear side panels. if I could, I would change out all of the door panels to ABS.

I'm still on the waiting list for my wagongear tailgate cover for my 62.
