I am thinking I need bling.
Was looking at Eagle Alloy wheels that were in the raffel this weekend at Halloween 4 Truck Show.
JT Outfitters has some wheels that look like Eagles though they do not say whom manufactured them. They are $299.95 for 4. Tempting.
Mr. Costello, Where did your alloy wheels come from?
Anyone else running fancy wheels?

TIA fer any help, Don P.

really, I agree find another source.. Most alloys are thicker and backspacing is an issue. I have a set of Blingy wheels, they are like american racing or something.. they're 16's and need an eighth spacer which doesn't leave much room for threads on the lugs.

OK. I am thinkin I wanna put some purdy shiny wheels on the Hot Dog. That prolly sound beddr....
Thanky! Don P.

i like those old fashion white wagon wheels you can find at summit racing or various other suppliers. They are cheap ~30 apiece look classic, and since they come in white they also are a good base to paint black or match to the color of your rig, etc.

they do?? Thanks for telling me this......I am planning on buying a set at some point.....but will know now to be more careful with them....of course i don't wheel my 60 at all right now and won't wheel it hard for a while due to fear or breakage and the lack of money to replace.

When I bought my 40 it had a set on it and they are bent badly enough that I can't get them balanced correctly and yet there was no body damage that would make you think it had been wheeled hard.

i had a set on my 85 4runner and they never went OUT of balance....but of course the 4runner is a lot lighter than a 40 or 60 series.,

Eagle 589s are a unique wheel. They have 3.25" backspacing in a 15x8 wheel which is nice for an alloy. Pro Comp also sells a similar wheel. I had the 589s on my 91 and they worked great. I have the MT Classic 2s on my 94 and they are not as nice. They take more care as far as cleaning and they are softer. They have a lot more rock rash.

Eric,

Thank you!

The ones I was taken by looked like the ones on your fzj80 in the Trails. But they were American Eagle Alloys, 186's. Bigger holes maybe? I was wondering if you were running spacers on your rig?

Truly enjoied the article about Gabe's rig! I need to get on my Son about the article he has never finished....

C Ya, Don P.
