Just got a panicked call from the wife who was driving our 06 LC (88k miles). First the battery light went on, then as she was driving the VSC light went on, then 4 more lights including ABS. She pulled over, shut off the car and is now unable to start it.

I haven't had the chance to look at it yet, but my first thought is alternator, anything else it could be?

How hard is an alternator replacement on one of these?

Has to be alternator or battery imo. Try to jump it and keep an eye on the voltage gauge or just use a multimeter (oem gauge probably isn't that accurate). I've never done an alternator on a 100 but it looks straight forward.

Sounds like alternator to me as well.

If you're decently handy, the job isn't that bad to replace it. I think I'm unique in that I prefer to remove the radiator to do it- there's just so much more room and makes it much easier. It is totally doable leaving the radiator in, but you'll be cursing some more.

Thanks Guys, i've seen a few wtiteups here for an alternator install, however the 06 comes with a 130A model which i think is different. Same procedure? can anyone link to the FSM?

I don't have an FSM link but as far as I know it should be the same process. I believe the parts are interchangeable as long as guys with older trucks switch out the connector plug on their truck to match the 130A unit. If you're able, I'd just bring your old one when you pick up the new one to make sure the plugs are the same.

Denso 210-0607 is the 130amp replacement I used on my 07'. Changing the alternator is the same process across all 100's. There's no reason to remove the radiator or even any coolant hoses, but if you want extra room for the job I can see how removing different things creates more space...

I would not immediately assume a bad alternator. If the battery is bad (dead cell), it can suck up alternator juice and the car might still run badly. I'd check battery connections, ground connection, and battery before I'd jump to alternator removal. Batteries, to state the obvious, are much easier to change! :)
