Trail ride/meeting
And a good time was had by all..................I must say Saturday was a great club day. Wheeling with the ground and trees snow covered was awesome. and Jeff led us down a path of great blue trails, some of which were either new or not familiar to me.
The cookout was great. I admire the guys who can camp and cook and know what all to bring and then do it!!!!! The burgrs and dogs were great as was the beer, other goodies and sweet treats. Thanks Jeff for doing the cooking and to everyone who brought something.
The meeting was very good, too. jeff is good at getting to the point, getting through it with a minimum of fanfare, and covering all the points. Great job, Jeff- there's a reason why you're the pres!!!!!
I am looking forward to the CMCC next year and what I hope will be productive help and involvement on behalf of our club. Many of us have benefited over the years from the efforts of the Gotham City guys in organizing and running the event and it'll feel good to give something back, whatever that turns out to be.
Matt Reed talked on our way home last night about trail rides- and Matt is gonna come up with a format for guys to sign up for trail rides the night before the day of rides- for each day of the event. I know the more seasoned guys usually have a group already pre-selected or at least in mind but this will help the new guys and the guys with a little more experience to tuck in behind a trail leader who can tailor the day's trails to the capability of the rigs and drivers in his group. Anyone interested in being a trail leader, step forward and let one of the officers know. I've been leading groups for years as has Matt and we'd like to have some of our guys leading other groups.
Reagrding the tech inspection that we talked about......I see this as probably a joint venture between the GCLC and our own ALCA. I will be glad to throw a few hours into tech inspection in an effort to be sure rigs are safe and comply with TLCA guidelines. My own rig may or may not be compatible right now with the letter of the TLCA rules but it will be before the CMCC takes place. The TLCA requirements are safety based and not difficult to comply with. Doing so makes your truck a safer rig and one that has less chance to be a problem on the trails.
What else....aside from Anna complaining about me and Justin smelling like wood smoke (thanks, Matt!!!) I didn't have a problem all day. The fire sure was welcome considering how the temperatures dropped when the sun set yesterday. Thanks to all who attended and I must say this is a great group to be associated with. Gary S
