one of our old club memebers (the guy I bought my fj62 from) sold me the 62 cause he bought a defender 110. anyway he with the rovers does the border to border runs that they put together.
Border to Border I like the concept of what they do but a stock rover can make these runs. I would prefer it to be a bit more challenging you know 34"s and a rear locker winch minimuim type stuff. not saying I would want hardcore trails just some challenges along the way. not sure if you all read back through the ACT thread where one dude with a stock fj55 wantted to go and they gently said no. i think a stock fj55 is much more capable than a stock landrover. so there you go.

How much is the fee for 1 truck? I say we take donations and send in one lone truck with GPS tracking software and be done with it.

That one truck couldn't be me as I have too much Boston in me but Lane is a pretty mild mannered gentleman.

second that, send in a spy great idea Rick

Prelude to Alaska

This would make a great rehearsal for a trek to Alaska. A chance to run everything through its paces.

The 4 wheeling wouldn't be difficult, (unless we found some side roads, or did it in the winter)....but the remoteness and self-sufficient requirements can be worth the experience. Road starts about 800 miles from Boston.

2009?

2009?

I've read that site before and was thinking about it as a possible adventure!
I'm in!
Anyone else?

I went to radisson, other then the huge dams over there it is asphalt all the way up.

Unless you take the taiga road east. still a large gravel road.

I've been studying the possiblity of going to schefferville and try to cross the 55th parallel.

Drive to Baie-Comeau, then manic-5, fermont, Labrador city, up close to churchill fall then take a left north west in a small gravel road to a train station called esker. From there i am getting in touch with local to know about the trail i see on topo maps if there is a way up those trails that are along the rail road. i've been studying the topo map and from my best estimate we would need to drive on or along the rail road for about 15-20km. Once at schefferville, we use hunting road used by caribou hunters to go north has much has we can. There is only one way up to schefferville and it is rail road. But i've been told by alot of people do it in ATV and motocross, do they use the track the whole 50 miles from esker to schefferville? that are still question i need answers. Or we will load the truck on the train, 1000$ for the tripp up and back.

10 day tripp from montreal.

Anyhow this is all in the early process of thinking and fesability.

These folks did it on motorcycles, but did not uses the trail along the rail road i see on topo. They drove on the track the whole 50 miles.

I was thinking about this and I would need to definitely augment my fuel capacity. It seems to me you need to realistically have a range in the 600 mile area. What do you guys think about this?

To go up James bay road? there a re fuel station, largest span is 385 km. On taiga road i do not know. But there are alot of Hydro quebec truck going on that road i'm sure there are fuel relay.
