I'm trying to decide on a good reasonably priced alarm for the 60. What do you have? Any special features? What did it cost? Where did you purchase? Did you install it yourself?

i dunno i forgot but i paid 230 for it and an extra 150 to pin the rear.
i also got keyless entry at the same time. the grand total was 770 for they alarm and keyless. it was spendy but wasnt a project i wanted to do myself. would rather rebuild the motor eh?

so you got power door locks on a 60?
What is "150 to pin the rear"?

Viper with door locks. It's good to have, but you can't unlock the doors with the key, you must use the remote.

they consider the rear doors to be extra so to put the alarm pin in it was extra $$$. hell yah its got power locks now and i f'n love it i dont care what anyone says keyless entry is the @&@&@&@&

I've got a Clifford alarm with two starter interupts and it's tied into the factory rear hatch so you DON'T need to "pin the rear" if you know what you're doing 'cause there is already a switch there from factory. I installed it myself and that way I could do what I wanted to make it as "non-conforming" to the standard alarm installs as possible to foil would be theives (not everything is clustered in one area and the indoor siren is so far up under the dash even I forgot where it is!).

Total cost under $200!

Running an UNGO alarm. Cost from local stereo shop $125 parts and $100 labor. Has the usual glass breakage and vibration sensors and wired to go off upon any door or hatch opening. Moving up from LA I still had the Cali mindset when I built my 60 so that's why the alarm is on it.

good ideas, keep em coming (cruiser_guy) did you write it up? ie what you tied into to? how many bananas? I'm pretty good with electronics in cars, amps cd players etc but never donne an alarm

He'd have to kill you if he told you...

Hey, for all the 60's with power locks--did you/they (whoever installed it) disable the "hold the front door handle up to lock" mechanism. If so, how?

K9 Mundial .. my HJ-60 already have door locks, so I conected the alarm ( a lots of hours underestanding Jap system ) radar zone, key lees entry and other usuals ..

200 USD ..

it becomes moot with keyless

I didn't write it up but I have the factory wiring diagram so it was really easy and straight forward. It's been in the truck now for probably 4 years. The only issue is the rear hatch switch is broken and I need to replace it but that's a Toyota part so its $$$. The only thing I had to do outside of a "by the book install" was run a wire from the rear cargo light to the front cargo light (basically tie all door switches to the hatch switch so ANY door or hatch will sound the alarm). That is easily done behind the drivers side rear cargo area panel. Very straight forward and simple. I also spread out the over ride switch, indicator LED and control box so that it was not all grouped together. I'd rather let the thief look for everything than keep it all together and easy to find.

Large dog.
Any special features?
Got one that looks intimidating, wolfish.
What did it cost?
$10-20
Where did you purchase?
County dog pound.
Did you install it yourself?
Yes, pretty easy.
Install in back seat. Rig up a source of potable water for trips of more than an hour.
:)

Yeah, but what do you do with all the UN-potable water it produces?
