Quick question?

Anyone had to replace all their airbags?

I’m looking at a 2020 with really light front damage, but all the airbags have been deployed.
Looks like they hit a semi maybe, above the bumper so the grill folded in but not enough to mangle the hood. Both headlights appear to be intact as well.

Not worried about exterior as I want to replace the bumper anyway.
Anyone know costs to fix the airbags? Part vs labor?

Both front + knee, and appears all side curtain airbags front and rear. Sewn into the seats.

Probably not a quick question. All airbag deployment was a bigger hit than a folded grill. A look at parts places show well over $1K per, plus sensors, labor, and some major new parts where they are located. I couldn’t even find them separately for the seats. It would be mega expensive and a very costly black mark on the vehicle history. I’d run away from that one.

Probably not worth it. You will need new seats, dash panel, headliner, airbag ECU, crash sensors, and every other airbag that was deployed. Likely a few incidental trim pieces as well. I don't see it being less than 20k in parts

I hit a deer once with my stock 200 that didn’t look all that bad, no air bag deployments. It was $17K to fix all of the broken front parts including the new TJM front bumper I took the opportunity to put on. In the end it was $25K to repair because the tranny lost it’s fluid and destroyed itself.

My point is just fixing the smashed parts that don’t look so bad is expensive. There is more broken than you see. Add to the the air bags and it is a lot. But it is a 2020. It may not be totaled from an insurance point of view. If not, I’d assume the seller is fixing it. Why isn’t the seller fixing it through insurance? If it’s being sold with a salvage title, there is a lot wrong with it.
