Seems like some of the ads on this site are overly aggressive. There is one that blocks content. It scrolls with the text so you can't look behind it. There is no clear "cancel" or remove button. Another one today had a video that would not let me scroll at all. It just would keep springing back to the top of the thread. Yet another was asking my browser for location info.

I can start taking screen shots if there is an appetite to deal with this.

Screenshots help. I spend for more time chasing "rogue" ads than anything else.

Thank you, Woody. It occurred to me that it could be that my browser could be part of the issue. I've updated Chrome on my laptop and will grab a screenshot if I have trouble in the future.

Here is the ad that blocks content. It scrolls with the window so I can't see what's under it. It is not clear how to make it go away.

I do want you to know I love the site! I spend WAY too much time on it. I just wanted you to know about these ads. They aren't a big deal, but are an annoyance.

hmm...will chase into that one...I have a couple software updates to make, which might cure it too. On my list next week when I'm not relying on my hotspot for internet service.

Also, what browser and OS are you on? I see that ad too, and have never had it "misplaced" like that...an older/out of date browser might be the cause.

I run Windows 7 on a laptop. The browser Chrome and just updated it yesterday. Here's what Chrome "About" says:
Version 42.0.2311.152 m

I just got one but I clicked a different link before I had time to take a screenshot. It was a generic Chevy ad if that helps. I'm using a macbook using safari with the most up to date version.

Is there a way to make it so the video adds don't bring you back to the top of the screen every time they restart? I don't mind the volume but they jerk my screen around.

Thanks.

OS, version, browser, version?? I have never experienced that issue...

"general" fix for many browser oddities. ..clear your cache and restart...I've said it before, but I do mine weekly and rarely get issues.

I've noticed the upper banner ad will often overlay the menus that pop up when I hover over my Username, Inbox or Alerts. It's not a problem for all menus, but blocks some of the upper left menu items in User preferences.

Chrome browser, Win7

Yeah, I've noted a couple of recent banners are having issues creating the space for the banner to appear...have contacted the network and hopefully they get it resolved soon.

Hey woody, so on my Android, using Google chrome I've been getting some nasty adds. And by nasty I mean they'll redirect me from Mud to a give away site and won't let me come back unless I click okay and then delete the tab

I'm on Android/Chrome constantly and haven't seen that issue in many months...when was the last time you cleared your cache/history?

Screen shots would help...impossible to track without.

I'll make sure to take one next time. And should've been yesterday but I'll do it now and see if it happens again

So it happened an I took some screen shots Woody. I was reading up on how to make your hi-lift make no more noise and I clicked to go back to the main forum page and it redirected me to this page and wouldn't let me leave and come back to 'Mud

What virus cleaner/scanner do you run on your phone? i've never experienced that type of issue, and the fact that it resulted from using the back button leads me to think it's outside the ad campaigns...and I use Chrome on my phone constantly to browse the forum.

I run Avast on my Android and thus far like it.

I don't run any. I also didn't use the back button. I clicked forum up top. But I'll try avast and see if it finds anything. Thanks Woody

hmm...same way I navigate...and I haven't seen an issue...that makes it all the more challenging to track down.

Ran a virus scan and came up with nothing. If it happens again I'll try and add more information.
