ok so the search function is enough to cause an embolism with a slow azz dialup.

I just drove from Omaha Ne to Witchata Falls Tx. Not too bad a drive... kinda loud (I wore earplugs the whole way)... any how i get here check into the billeting office drive around the parking lot and as i am pulling into a parking spot it takes 8 or 9 frantic pumps of the brakes to stop.... i guess it wouldn't have been too bad there was a rusty chevy celebrity there to stop me.... any how i ordered a new MC from CDan... (i could clearly hear mine bypassing internaly) kind of a splooggy sound coming from the MC when you pressed the brakes.

the question is...

what kind of bench bleeding am i gonna need to do to this new MC before i go and just slap it in???? i also have new frame too axle and axle too front knuckle hoses i am gonna put on (figure just need to bleed the snot out of the system in one sitting this way)

this is on my 77' Fj 40... with front disks..

thanks

dan

I have not ever had to 'bench bleed' a Toyota master cylider, but there are many out there who swear by it...

Pretty strait-forward deal. Make sure everything is tight and do not let the fluid run out when you are bleeding the system.

Good luck!

Yes bench bleed and make sure you use brake fluid to clean your brake parts care there are lots of things out there that will cause you nothing but problems if it gets mixed in the system ie wd40. There is a great thread a few weeks back all about proper brake set up. I would suggest you have a bit of a look for it. BTW the bay door at my work place served as a nice stopping block for my cruiser about 4 weeks ago.

Ask around for some of Russell's one-man bleeder screws too. They're da bomb. Just pull out your bleeders and insert theirs. They've got check balls right inside them!

Just drop some Metallica in the CD player and pretend you're Lars for a minute. Those babies'll bleed in no time!

It never hurts to do a bench bleed, but on a MC that is mounted level it is not really required. Though bench bleeding is a requirement on a MC that is placed in at an angle. When there not level there is a chance that there will be an air bubble above the front line comes off the MC that will not go away without bench bleeding.

It is not always required, but never hurts to get in that habbit of doing. Quick job to make sure you have it right the first time so you don't have have to pull it back out.

Chris.

Guys thanks!!!!

chuglife great link... seems simple and just a bit of preventive maintainance... i'll do the bench bleed thanks

putting a MC on is real easy. i would not skip the bench bleeding it will save you time. It will take about 30 min to change the whole MC or less. Make you you have two people it will make it a lot easier.

You really don't need two people to bench bleed, or even need a one man bleeder. Just bolt up the MC to the booster, hook up some small diameter, clean plastic lines to it and have them sitting under the fluid in the reservoir.

in and stoping nice .... i can even lockup all four tires now.... very nice

thanks
