I am restoring Esmeralda my FJ40 down in Colombia.

Was all set to do an OEM used heater to keep her as original as possible but I am really thinking of doing a heater such as this one in order not to cut into the Colombian no heat firewall.

These small changes/improvements away from 'original' are such hard decisions but I have already decided to do new AC in the right passenger footwell (looks similar to a CCOT unit).

I think the small size and functionality of the new smaller heater will work out well.

I saw some installs here on MUD but would love a few more if someone has one.

I am thinking of going with the JEGS/Summit small unit. here is the AC unit I like too.

I have called all around the Tampa area and no luck on a vintage air all in one installer down here.

The advantage of going this way is that I can take the small heater down to Colombia where I have all my mechanics and installers already lined up!

Details details. Plug to Shane at metrictlc.com for helping me think over the OEM route.

I think this is the way I am going.

I was going to recommend you contact Shane as well. Good luck.

I ordered the one above. i will take it down to Colombia and we can fiddle with it and see how it fits. Down there I can have them make custom box or paint it or whatever.

The one I ordered above looks WAY too big. No idea how people have installed it. guessing they really cut into the firewall. Looking at other options now.
