I have a 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser which doesn't have the 360 camera. I recently order a Pheonix Automotive Android head unit.

I saw on there that they have a 360 camera system for the Android Unit, but since i couldn't find any review or information on it, I decided to order this 360 camera from Amazon.

From what I've read these 360 camera systems will work with any Android head unit. I plan on connecting the cameras and ensuring it works with the head unit, before doing any drilling or running cables.

I found this video on YouTube showing the disassembly of the side mirror, but don't think its the best. Has no sound or instructions. I wanted to know if any as the instructions on disassembly or knows where i could get a used side mirror assembly to take apart before doing it on mine.

I may be mistaken but doesn't Tesla style head unit = Phoenix Automotive? My understanding is that there are a few different sizes but are all essentially resellers of the same equipment.

I agree with you. The important part is that they are Android units, so they are compatible with the 360 camera system in theory.

It doesnt come with a 360 camera. What it did was utilize the existing 4 cameras that are on my 2014, I wouldn't call it a 360

OK so you were able to use the stock cameras. Mine is 2008 and doesn't come with the 360 cameras. I'm hoping to be able to install the 360 camera system myself, my concern is taking the side mirrors apart without breaking anything.

Ok so I tested the 360 camera system and it works. I drilled and tested the placement of the camera on the driver side mirror and like so far how it’s working. Still need to figure out how to wire the triggers and how it will function with the Phoenix automotive Android head unit.

here are some pictures of what I have so far. Since I have wired any triggers, I have to use the remote to switch cameras.

yes I'm actually thinking about buying a CCTV camera system for my Land Cruiser. It would be a great way to monitor the foot traffic and road traffic in my area. Tesla uses Believe It or Not 8 cameras and they are Incorporated all around the vehicle

The camera NEEDS to point at a face if that person damages your car, you cannot prosecute him. How about putthing a camera in the dash pointing up or hanging upside down under the dark strip at top of windshield?

Have it all wired up and finally calibrated. I have to say I love this 360 feature. Took me 4 days to install and that was only due to raining everyday here in Florida.
I pinched the reverse camera on my tire swing out and severed the signal. But the manufacturer responded quickly and sent me a new cable at no charge, I was pleasantly surprised with their customer service.
The calibration was fairly easy. I’ll admit I didn’t take as much time as I could have to place the calibration mats and measure the vehicle but I’m still happy with the blended 360 view.

The red circles on the images are the tabs on the mirror cover that you need to push to remove the covers.

I was able to route the wires through the same location as the wires in the door.

this system came with a shock sensor and a flash stick to record any impacts to the vehicle. But I do agree with you. Without a face it would be hard to prove who did it without a doubt.

Exactly how much money do you have to spend? Would you like to work with me with a computer vision AI engineer and build a data set where the computer vision AI would recognize a person wearing a mask and a hoodie and it would set off alarms? It could also used to recognize a pry bar?

@gomex268 where did you tap into for power on the mirror? I Currently have my mirror pulled apart and realizing I need a 5 volt supply.

@WarioBuregra yes it was extremely tight. The mirror was easy but getting through the grommet in the door to inside the car was a PITA.

NXP garage has a good video on pulling apart the mirror on youtube. I managed to break the "arms" on the mirror that I think control the adjustability, so be careful on that step (when they pry the white plastic housing out around 4 minutes in)
