I can see a fuel tank replacement in my future. I would usually think OEM is the only way to go with items like this but I can’t help being drawn to after market tanks because of the price. I know fitment is really tight. Has anyone had experience with aftermarket tanks?

I bought the Spectra fuel tank from Amazon a few years ago. It was like $250ish delivered in 2 days, with all the hardware and gaskets. It seemed to fit fine and I haven't had any issue yet. The straps were really hard to get around it, but people say the same thing about the oem tank.

Try @NCFJ; he does 80s but he may have a recommendation or two since he also installs new tanks with his conversions.

Thank you so much. Mostly I have been concerned about fit since it’s reputation for difficulty.

I have never heard of anyone replacing a fuel tank on a 100. What is going on with yours?

It appears to be leaking at the seam and the skid plate is badly rusted. I’d like to replace them both, the pump and whatever on top that needs it.

@blinder52 if you would like a good OEM tank, I have one a few hours west of you in Central Kansas. I replaced it with a LRA tank and am getting ready to throw it in the scrap pile. Inside might have some flash rust since it has sat open for almost a year. Dropping the tank is a pretty simple job.

Thank you. I’ll PM you
