I've added the factory installation instructions in post #15 for now :)

Good thread siglo. Thanks for taking the time to document it so well!

finished updating post #15 with my comments on the install of the drawers.. I'm really happy with the quality of this product.. my cargo area doesn't look like a total mess and I have a good sleeping surface.. I'm thinking of having a mattress made.. so far my thoughts it that it should be 3 pieces.. haven't decided on whether it should be leather (easy to clean) or cloth though..

Siglo,
I love the drawers, your 100 is coming along nicely. On the mattress, I would get it make of cloth (more comfortable to sleep on) but I would also see about getting a nylon cover with zipper made for it too (kind of like a nylon seat cover). The cover will protect the mattress and you can take it off to wash it if it gets dirty.

@Greg B

the removable cover is a good idea.. I might just have the cloth itself come off so I can wash that.. a friend of mine had a mattress made for his wife's Yukon.. I'll ask him about his setup also to get more ideas.. :)

Jack & Wrench compartment

Looks like the drawers have rendered the jack compartment on the side unusable.. how do you get the jack out?

@Mago

See pic 14, you can easily remove the cover and access the jack from there. I've done it a couple of times when I needed that jack with no problems what so ever.

Looks good.

How deep are the drawers?

Also, does the clearance (drawer to inside top of enlosure) allow for tie downs to be bolted on?

Siglo:

When you fold the second row of seat half way down (just one fold) are they flush with the drawer system?? Thats how my homemade drawers are and its awesome. Makes sleeping cake. Hope that AO was smart enough to do that.....?

I noticed in pic #14 that there is an obstruction on the left hand side of the jack compartment cover. Thought this would prevent it from opening, freely at least.

@cruiser100
I have 8 tie down bolted on with no problems. Just use a type that's a bit low profile from underneath. I'm not sure exactly how deep the drawers are, but they are deep enough for my use :)

I could measure it for you if it is important for you to know..

@yoter100
They are flush enough to easily sleep on them.

@1loudLX
it's always fun when that happens, especially when I get to see how my LC was new, nice and clean..

I finally made time and installed the drawers yesterday.. the installation took a good part of the afternoon and most of the night (I like taking long breaks).. having an extra set of hands to help in some parts made things easier.. I'm really pleased with the quality and capacity of those drawers.. the fact that it held all (except one item) of my mess including the portable anchor is amazing! no more jumping inside the cargo and searching for that snatch strap or winch remote :bounce:

here are before and after pics

Looks great how expensive was it?

I've snapped some shots during the installation.. I can do a brief write-up if you guys are interested :)

6 years, could be a record.

I'll say..

African outback went out of business and I sold my 100 series.

It's one of those African company stories; they kind of went out of business but they're not gone... My understanding is that they had labor issues and were plagued by strikes. They were snatched up by Big Country. The company essentially does Big Country products but also does African Outback stuff too (including support/parts for older products). I visited their showroom/shop in Joburg last August and bought parts for my African Outback rack... Yes, most of their focus was on the Big Country brand in the shop, but they had a lot of both. They do ship worldwide....
