Hi guys,

currently have a 100 series as some of you know. Its a 2006 with the 4.5L and is manual trans.

Hiwever, may have an opportunity to pickup a 2011/12 79 series (2 door landcruiser).

It has the newer 4.0l v6 engine.

So here's my query - I've heard the leaf suspension is not very comfy - how true is this?? and would changing the leaf suspension help? Would it be expensive to do this?

I don't need the 4 door car and actually like a smaller 4wd.

I've heard it's great offroad however driveabilty is important to me as it will be my daily.

What's your thoughts guys?

Off road should be tons better with a shorter wheelbase. Might be very stiff for on road with leafs and I'm not sure how easy or expensive it might be to do a coil conversion. if you can drive one see how it feels, i honestly like a slightly firmer ride as you don't get any stupid body roll in the corners

If only both were an option! I've just been on Dubizzle and there are a few very good looking examples and sadly, despite my begging, nobody in the family can see why it would make sense to get one seeing as we have got a Wrangler.... If I were you and you feel you have dipped your toes in the 100 pool for long enough, then I would go for it just so that you can have a new experience. However, with a 2012 70 nudging 100k it really shows what a bargain the 100 series is!

Thanks guys. Thought to mention that I did have a look and it just wasn't for me.

Its a fine drive, but the 100 is much better as a daily.
