Just looking for some advice on where to find the best deal on quality AT tires. I have been on the road for the last 5 months adventuring around the west coast (from Tofino BC to San Diego and back and forth). After 14 flats I'm thinking it might be a thought to throw down some real money for tires. Or used tires? anyone know of a good used tire deal anywhere? I am currently in Mammoth but heading to southern california tomorrow. In 2 weeks I head into mexico and plan on continuing through to central america. Again, any ideas are appreciated. thanks.

If you're concerned about flats, I would be looking at a minimum E rated tire, 10 ply. Also, used tires are not the way to go, IMHO. The internet should give you an idea of what they sell for in Kalifornia. ;)

Everybody seems to hold BFG ATs in high regard. I know I like mine!

I'm not as thrilled with BFG as I use to be, my FJ60 came with a set of MT's that have three out of five tires out of round.

I ran the BFG AT's for many years and they worked well in every condition except MUD. In mud they get loaded faster than you would believe and do not self clear.

Just my 2 cents. Here in the Arkansas Ozark Mtns. Most folks around here pass on the BFG's and ride Hankook's. Ive got their MT's on my 60 and their AT's on my 80. Always been real pleased. The terrain around here is pretty rugged and sloppy, Ive had them in all sorts of situations never been let down. This weekend I was clearing a road on some property running over countless sharp cedar staubs, thought I would tear a side wall for sure, passed with flying colors. The price is good too.

A friend swears by www.tirerack.com. He says the local tire shops can't compete with the low prices he has been able to get from there... including shipping fees to Canada.

I bought snow tires for my DD from tire rack, saved me almost $400, and like Charla said, even with shipping to Canada.

My brother worked out in the oilfield in northern alberta, and everyone out there swore by the Dridgestone Dueller Revos. He was having the same problems as you are with his BFG ATs, and he never had any troubles with his revos. IIRC they were $20/tire more than BFGs. That being said, I just put BFG ATs on my Tacoma, and they seem fine; we will see how happy I am a year from now.
