Well finally starting to drive my '75 (2F) now that I have got it running well and brakes and steering are good. My question is when in 4th gear and going about 55 it sounds like I need another gear, rpms seem real high, dont have an rpm gauge though, just sounds. So anyway this may be normal, never drove a FJ before this one so nothing to compare it to. It is not overheating or anything like that just seems like 50mph and above running real high. Sounds normal to you guys? Thanks in advance for feedback.

Normal. I run mine at about 2800rpm to cruise at 70mph. I have run it up to 3500, but I don't keep it there very long. I have 33 inch skinnys, so that is my "overdrive";)

with 3.73 diffs and stock (28-29") tires, I'm at 2500 rpm when going ~55mph. 2Fs sound like they're turning a lot faster than they are.

A tach that mounts on the column will set you back about $50 and is really good to have. I think mine is a SunPro in a 3" face.....something like that. Anyway, when you get a tach go here and have fun. Scroll down to MPH

thanks Ed for the cool link. I at least feel better now, but I think I will have to throw an rpm gauge on there in the future.
