I'm looking for ideas/recommendations for re-attaching my weather striping on a Coleman Tent Trailer. The striping btween the roof and the body. I have tried a paint on contact adhesive, with so so results, and attempted using a 3M tape for molding with Zero results. Anyone got any better rec's, or experience? Colman dos'nt have a "Colman " adhesive.

Have a picture and some description of the the type of materials they are?

Not sure which part you are referring to, but if it is the trim pieces you can use butyl tape and or 100% silicone, and the trim pieces are also held in place with screws. The pieces on my roof that seal the roof to the lower box I also adhered with screws, but put 100% silicone in the channel to waterproof.

OK, the parts I am refering to are the fiberglass top, and the body of the camper. the top sets down on the body for transport. I have tried a DAP/Weldwood contact cement that was listed for wood, foam, cloth, leather, plywood, and says a "Neoprene Formula". It worked OK, after it was applied, & the drive on the family camping trip, but on the 2nd trip(winter duck hunting, 3-4 mos later) the whole sh!^ came undone. Now getting set for the summer trip, and getting the rig ready, I'm looking for somthing that will stick the weatherstriping to the plastic edge of the fiberglass top so that I'm not trailing 14' of sponge rubber behind me up the mountain.
The question is, should I buy new foam rubber weatherstripping, and try a new adhesive? Or glue the sh!^ out of the out of the old stuff(still in good shape), and call it good?

By the description I would do a test with good ol' GE Clear Silicone. You can alsways stop by an autobody supply (not Autozone) and ask someone there whats available...they have some pretty serious adhesives.

MO FO, that sounds like the stuff I'm looking for. Will check it out later.
Pat 57, Great answer, sometimes the most basic solution escapes a person who over thinks stuff.

Finally found some stuff. Found it at Lowes. It is called "Leak Stopper" by Gardner. It goes on white and dries clear. sorta like silicone, but when it cures it's like gorilla snot and super sticky. It is rated for stucco ,wood, masonery, roof issues, tin, asphalt shingles, stone, glass, etc. I used 60 & 80 grit sand paper to clean off the old adhesive/boogers from the plastic and foam rubber weather stripping. Layed the stuff on and after the inital squish, pulled it apart and squished it back together. I then used the "blue" painters tape to hold everything together, and a finger to smooth the bead out. Note to self: After wipeing the stuff on T-shirt ; throw away T-shirt.
Will post up after the vacation(ie: hiway travel @ speed) to report on this adhesive.--Jim

x2 on the 3M stuff. They have other similar products that may actually be stronger.

Sounds like you might be well off to consider two adhesives for this application. You need something strong and somewhat flexible as an adhesive. Then you need something to waterproof various gimcracks, etc to prevent it leaking. Hard to find something that does both best, so sometimes think what two will play nice with each other to solve your overall problem.
