Is the wiring there even if no locker on a 2000?

any other issues? beside replacing the 3rd member? axles the same?

John

no idea but would it not be strange if it were there with the Trac Con stuff in place?

That’s a good question, but since it didn’t come as an option, I doubt it.

i opened up the lower dash panel under the steering column, and interestingly enough there are two switches there that are not plugged right where the lockers switch is supposed to be. could it be that the lockers were there but never hooked up by a swtich ?
that would be kind of strange. but then again perhaps we can have someone else give us some details.

I think you would need the one side rear axle shaft with the long splines as well. The elocker for the 100 works the same as the rear elocker for the 80. No idea on wiring or plug. Never looked.

e999,
The lockers would have no ill-effect with traction control. Traction control detects wheel slippage. If you are locked, your wheels will never slip and therefore, TRAC will never activate.

It might be like on the 3rd gen 4runners after their locker was discontinued after 2000. The wiring is kind of there, but the ECU isn't (i think it's the wiring from the dash to where the ecu would be is there). My guess is the harnesses are all standardized in that the locker from the dash switch is part of some other harness, and since the LC is sold in 150+ countries where the locker is probably offered in 149 of them, it's a reasonable assumption.

Are there any rear axle housing mods needed for the locker?

yes i agree. i openened up the underdash again just to see the harness. and that is what it seems like that the harness is there to have the connections, it's just that the ecu might not be.
i wonder why that option was discuntinued. were there any negative reviews or effects of the lockers ? were these rear or front lockers ?as the center diff lock button is still available.

TC is better understood and desired by the general public. Moreover, the LC's biggest competitors have it i.e. RR and BMW

checked on the axle shafts, the ones for the E locker are about $500 each.......

no clue if the wiring is there, I suspect part of it is though

also the gasket for the 3rd is also different.......why I dunno

but it seems not very cost effective to add a E locker to a non E locker 100......even if say you found one for $200 new in the box ;)

ARB will be cheaper and an easier fit.

Just one shaft needed right? Or are both different for some mysterious reason? Like my wife needs a locker.

thought Al said both side were a different part # but maybe it was only one side.

Lucky for you a certain someone(close to you) might have a pair of them(lockers) ;)

Well, that was fun. $309 and $420 Didn't want to drive up the price on Fox for the second one and Mudrak beat me to the line. Who says there's no deals on Ebay?

TRAC will still activate up front giving an extremely effective improvement and one that doesn't hamper turning or cause breakage (due to an unlocked front).

there was a reason I didnt post the Ebay links.............

The best setup, which is avail to 100 owners, is Lockers front/rear (ARB/OEM or ARB/ARB) in addition to the ATRAC.

Amando has the nice 80 diff lock switch and it looks like it was born on the 100. Really nice integration.

Inchworm gear sells a standalone control unit for Taco elockers. Incidentally, it uses an 80 series front locker wiring harness. So, possibly, it may be used to control a 100 series locker. Do not know how similar they are to an 80 series one.
