For those of you who've put add-a-leafs in, was your alignment all out of whack when you finished the job? Maybe it's because I put in new shackles and poly bushings, but mine is way off now that I'm done. Sure rides great though (if a little stiff but I attribute that to the add-a-leafs being brand new), and sits perfectly level for the first time in years.

...Alignment is fine. They sure don't soften up much though. I still think they are the best bang for the buck.

Changing my leafs straightened my steering wheel orientation.

Could be your alignment compensated for the old leafs. Now that you shored them up with the aal, you're back closer to where you should be.

.

I have messed around with my front spring pack four times (removing and adding leafs, until I got what I liked). Never changed the alignment. Steering wheel got out of whack (not centered). Pulled it, replaced it. Could adj the drag link, but I prefer to work sitting in a seat rather than on my back on the ground.

The additional bonus on your spring mods, is that the stiffer springs will corner better. Not like a race car, but far more secure feeling.

Yeah I felt that when I took it for a spin around the block. Love the way it rides now. Certainly ain't a Lincoln, but it's a big improvement. I figure tomorrow I'll just give my steering wheel a quick twist if I can find my puller.

Heard a loud rumbling at about 26-27 MPH too, but I think that was my tcase struggling to shift into 4hi while I was playing around with it on the ice. I'll investigate it more tomorrow.

I've always been able to pull my steering wheel w/out a puller. Loosen the nut (but don't remove unless you favor a broken nose). Grab the outside of the wheel, wiggle and pull towards you. First time I had to wiggle and pull hard. It won't be corroded, so it'll come off OK.

Congrats on a mod done. Now onto the next right?

The puller just makes it easier :D

The next one will hopefully be the dual battery installation, but I really need to get my fuel pump changed out ASAP because I don't want to end up stranded again (it's the factory pump at 215K miles). I'd like to do some general maintenence before continuing with any projects (heater core cleaning, possible replacement; new blower motors front and rear, new front wiper motor, and the fual pump).

I hope the hell you're not using the gawd damn short leaves.

The worse mistake i ever made was installing those.

Aw hells no. Full length on all four spring packs. Hopefully they'll settle some, because my truck looks like it's sitting way high for stock sized tires...
