Hey folks! 100 series owner coming in peace. Just finishing up my 100 series build. Will be about as good as I can get without an SAS, which I don’t want to do on that rig.

I’m considering a 4Runner SAS or an 80 series to build up that I can feel less guilty beating on. And tackle some of the tougher local stuff.

Came across this 4Runner which already has SAS/lockers etc for a pretty solid starting point.

Any general thoughts from this crew? My runner knowledge is lacking.

This one is so highly modified it's hardly a 4runner anymore. I have a stock 2nd generation. The advantages over an 80 are that it's smaller/narrower. People tend to rag on the 3.0, but mine has been rock solid for 20+ years. Granted, I don't drive that many miles with it. Also, mine had the head gasket done by Toyota in 2000, a couple years before I bought it. This engine was notorious for blowing head gaskets, the primary reason it has a bad rep.
No photos of the interior, although it may hardly matter to you since this would apparently be a trail rig only.
