ACC pretty much owns the market for precut-and-shaped auto carpets. Last I heard, 'Stock Interiors' carpets show up in ACC boxes so, same thing. Got a few sample swatches for a look-see, and compared with stock.
Samples are as follows:
Cutpile 801 Black with "mass backing"
Essex 1079A Dark Slate
Essex 1097A Charcoal
>Note they all look considerably darker in dim light.
>Last shot is on my home office desk, with Old School frosted incandescent desk lamp.
>Essex is much denser, thicker, with a much nicer feel.
The mass backing is not particularly thick, but is very stiff. In the photo below, I'm probably putting more pressure on the mass-backed swatch than on the standard. I have no experience with either yet, but I'm not sure that backing is going to add a lot of benefit. Could be wrong. If you want to shape it around something, forget it. Maybe a heat gun would help. The standard backing is much more like the Toyota stock backing. When it comes to pile height, remember the pictured oem carpet is now 30yo.
First pic taken in sunlight, on brick. Truest colors. There's a bit of a glisten to the fibers in sunlight you can't see unless you look at the pic full-size. Rest of shots taken on overcast day, where console goes, and on tailgate. Note that tailgate pics were taken minutes or seconds apart--and look how different the oem carpet looks from moment to moment, as the clouds move and the angle shifts a little.
