The air blowing from my aircon smells bad. I blew high pressure air up the rubber drain hose, but no improvement.
I tried putting a wire up the hose too but nothing substantial was pulled out.
I don’t have the time to take all the ducts and such out.

Has anyone drilled access holes in the plastic housing where the evaporator is.
I was thinking I could then spray coil cleaner foam in there.

Hello,

Try cleaning the blower and the interior air intake.

Your foam seals may be the cause.

In old age, sealing foam disintegrates and smells bad, like vinegar.

Dead creature in the blower cage. Found a few over the years.

Blower is 2 years old.
If it was a dead critter, my dog would have chewed off the housing to get at it.

Smells more like stale water…vague mildew.

I will take some stuff apart one day.

Is the airflow still strong through the vents?
You can get a can of spray that you spray into the fan which is a anti bacterial spray. If it's just a mould smell the can could fix the smell and kill it for a while but most likely will have to remove the core and clean to fix properly.

Thanks guys.
I just ordered some of the Frigi fresh.

For me, buying 2 things instead of one sometimes pays off.
In this case, the Frigi Fresh spray did not get delivered in time but my back-up plan purchase did.
tablets.
These seem to be meant for household ac but they worked for me.
I crushed one tablet and mixed it into 0.5 litres of hot H2O.
I used an air sprayer with siphon tube to shoot an atomized cloud of cleaner up through the condensation drip hose.

Administered the solution in three bursts with draining in between.
Vile swamp smell defeated for now.
Frigi Fresh will get its chance when I get back home.
