AC Problem

I have an 01 LC with front and rear air. I recently switched it to auto mode one day and now my control for the AC fan speed is acting up. When I try to turn it from Auto to off, it takes about 20 seconds to turn off or when switching from fan speed 1 to 2 or 2 to 3 there is about a 10 second delay. It seems to be less of a delay going from a higher speed to a lower speed. I replaced the batter to trouble shoot the easiest fix I could do. Local mechanic said perhaps it's the control head unit. Anyone have any ideas of what it could be or know where I may be able to get a used control head? thanks for the help!

Any resolution to your problem?
I have an 01 also. Sometimes when I am in manual mode, the fan speed changes on its own. I have taken the dash off and looked at the assemblies and have not seen anything broken, burned or anything.
On another note, do you find that there is a large discrepancy between the highest and second highest fan speed? Meaning, the high setting blows hard and fast, but when you go the next lowest setting it is very low and slow?

I have a similar issue. I'm going to try and replace the Blower Resistor in the future. Maybe this is the same problem you are encountering?
