I happened to come across an 1983 FJ60 today for 2300 USD. I dont have the money but thought I'd at least look it over to see what I might be missing out on. I pretty much know how much I'd pay for the truck but my question has to do more with the AC.
The engine runs fine at just under 200K. Everything seems to work for the most part. But.... when ever you hit the button for the AC the engine surges up to over 2000rpm and stays there the entire time the button is on.. then turned off the rpm drops back down to idle. WTF? Ive never come across this before. I'm pretty sure the rpm is supposed to go up some due to the compressor being on... so is there some sort of adjustment that can be made to bring the rpm back down to where it should be when the AC is turned on?
