I have to replace my discharge hose on my 05 LC. I have a hunch the dealer damaged it when they were replacing the timing belt over the past winter - the AC worked great last summer. The dealer is looking for $850 to replace the hose and recharge, and the part is only $130.

Anyway, two questions:
1) Is there a special thread/o-ring sealant I need to use in the connection
2) Can I evacuate the system with the standard AC recharge kits they sell at the autoparts stores?

Thanks in advance for the feedback! JMH

You'll need a vacuum pump to evacuate the system...might be easier to take it to a local ac guy to evacuate...you r&r the plmbing...take it back to the shop for a recharge.

Thanks Steve I agree on having a shop do the recharge - any thoughts on what to use on the plumbing in regards to sealant (if any) I have never worked in AC plumbing but done plenty of the usual stuff.

For o-ring assembly lube, maybe a drop or 2 of a/c oil...same stuff as is already in the compressor?
