Hi:

When my AC is on my idle drops instead of going up. The VSV is good. When I turn on the AC it switches and the AC diaphram rod gets pulled up but nothing happens to the idle speed. I even yanked on it with my and and it does not work. Any ideas???

So the other end of the rod that attaches to the vacuum diaphragm is attached to the primary throttle shaft. As it pulls, it should rotate the primary throttle shaft open until it hits the stop. The screw that is there is adjusted to get the appropriate idle speed. If adjusting the screw does nothing, then maybe this assembly is not properly attached to the primary throttle shaft.

Hey Mark,

2mbb is right. I would just adjust it with the screw on the linkage with the AC turned on.

Thanks ALL, I will give it a try. I could not find anyting in the carb section of the FSM or the AC section. Them MBB finds it ??????

I think it is at the end of the smog manual in a section.

Maybe I did not get the right smog manual, my 1981 2F Smog manual does not have it. I adjusted the scew until the tach hit 1K @ adle w/ ac on. Seems COLDER now.

Thanks All

MBB..

what is part 90339-07016. is that a foreign part list?

My parts list is for north america (US and Canada).

The part 90399-07016 looks like it is a plug for the port that is used for the vacuum brake booster. That would be for the rare(?) option of an FJ60 with A/C but without power brakes?

Some of these AC components show up in the 1984-1990 body and chassis manual but in a schematic for the 70 series (page AC-22). The similar drawing for the 60 series doesn't show these components--maybe the 60 series assumes fuel injection? There is a trouble shooting procedure for the VSV but nothing about the vacuum actuator or idle speed adjustment.
