recently replaced my compressor. I believe the clutch on the one I pulled is toast, was making a grinding/rattling and driving me nuts. So if you have any use for this, I'll send it to you for the cost of shipping.

I may be interested. Can you give me a little info:
AC was blowing very cold?
How many miles?
Yr?

Hey man - for you, I'll pay for shipping, you've saved me thousands over the last 5 years.

Sure thing - compressor always growled/grinded since buying the vehicle 6 years ago (2001 LC, 265k miles). Was blowing cold, I was 'quick recharging' every year or so with one can, had a slow leak. Replaced the rear high pressure line 2 months ago after it popped. Did a quick recharge on the system (no vacuum) due to a trip deadline. Got back. AC blew cold the whole way but compressor noise got louder, and then about the time we returned home the ac controls were blinking at me. In addition, the compressor was 'whining' the same way my alternator did before it gave out. So - the whining was following the RPMs. You could hear me coming...

Pulled the compressor, replaced with the same (Denso), and did a proper recharge. Noise is gone, blinking lights are gone, I just got back from another 1500 mile trip to yellowstone, both zones blew cold all the way.

So...my problems were 1) pinhole leak in rear high pressure line for 6 years (I'm pretty sure) and 2) grumpy compressor. Based on everything I've read, grumpy compressor fix = clutch replacement.

Hi Matt, Thanks for the offer. Please give me and email I can reply with shipping address. I can not PM/DM you. I get a message you've "reached limit".

I may have a leaky compressor. Some, will hold a vacuum, but slow leak each winter. If yours is good (not leaking), just bad clutch. I may be able to swap the clutch. So if you no reason to think yours leaking, it may help me out.

Regards,
Paul.

sure thing. Just to be clear I'm no expert, but these are my best conclusions. Hopefully you don't end up with 2 leaky compressors on your garage floor. Buy hey if you scrap them I think you can buy yourself a beer. Haha.
