AC has been acting up lately. When I set the temp at say 72 degrees, all of a sudden, the blower will go to full blast. Then if I go off AUTO to #1 or #2 it slows down to a normal speed. Its an intermittent issue, but lately happens a lot more frequently.

I found something that says there is a sensor for the temperature in the cabin, behind this panel. Does anyone have any advice on how to get to it and what needs to be done? Cleaned or replaced?

Is it possible that the round dial to the left that sets the temperature is defective?

Thanks for the help.

Doesn't sound like anything is defective. It sounds like everything is normal.

If it's hot out, and your AC is set to auto, then your car is going to work hard to get to the desired temperature.

Turning it down to #1 or #2 slows down your fan speed.

Am I missing something.

Do a search - there's a few threads on this topic.

IIRC the sensor is by the right knee on the DS. You should be able to pull the panel apart and see the wire attached to it.

Yup. Run a search on cleaning the sensor. Also, the hose (white on my 99) was disconnected and kept it from reading the correct cabin temp. A zip tie fixed it.

The problem is that it runs normally, cools the cabin as it used to do, then suddenly it will go to full blast air. Turn the AC off, and go back to AUTO setting, and it normalizes again, till the next time. I have had the truck 14 years and this is not how it used to operate, so something is not normal.
