I noticed today that when i turn on the AC, while cruising, i haphazardly hear a belt whine of sorts. its not a consistant whine, speed doesnt seem to matter, it just randomly makes a whine/screatching noise.

when i turn the AC off the whine stops. i'm assuming the belts are either too tight or too loose. i just recently changed the belts and all has been fine - except for now. Any thoughts?

note: the crotch cooler works great!! (check chat if you don't know what i'm talkin about ;) )

Loose belts?
When was the last time you changed them??
Check their condition. Last thing you want is having the crotch cooler failing on you.

is it a Toyota belt? aftermarket belts will squeal. it should have about 1/2" of play in it if you yank on the belt.

the belts are all toyota from cdan installed about 4 months ago. the single, thicker belt gives about 1/2" play. the two skinny belts are tighter, around 1/4". do you think if i loosen them it will help?

that sounds pretty tight. loosening would not hurt.

Fan belts need to be adjusted, ( re-tightened ) after a week or so of DD as they stretch a bit. If you have not done so yet, try that.
