Hey guys,

A few months back my 01 LX had the rear driver side caliper cease on me. I replaced it and shortly after my abs vsc trac and brake lights all turned on. I jump the t1 and ec(e1, tc?) under the hood and saw that same wheels abs sensor was faulty. I finally got around to changing it over the weekend and all of my dash lights turned off. I started driving, and after about 10 feet my active trac went crazy and my front wheels locked up and my throttle was cut. I thought maybe I bought a bad sensor so I pulled it out and exchanged it. Got the new one in this morning and my truck is doubg the same thing.

Any ideas? I find it hard to believe I had 2 bad beck arnley sensors in a row.

Thanks! Any advise how to do that? I don’t wanna just pull the sensor and spray down the ring with a cleaner. I do know that it’s for sure dirty in there

Reviving from the dead but I am Having a similar problem, My ABS light is on and my the front passenger wheel sensor has a broken bolt and just pulls right out of the socket. I need to get that bolt out of the housing and clean all of the ABS rings and hoping that resolves the problem. I just don't want it to be an ABS issue. I can hear the ABS working and so hoping its not that. Any ideas from anyone?

My understanding is if the abs light is on, then the system is off and what you’re hearing is the brake booster

I had a code for a dirty rear wheel sensor and I was able to get a Q-Tip in there and pick the debris off of the ring.
As far as your front sensor falling out goes, maybe you can stick it in with some rtv until you can get the broken bolt fixed....

The speedo on mine seems to work for a while when I start driving the car after its been off for a while then after a few mins it just goes to zero. I am not sure whats causing that. I cleaned out the sensor that is broken and did a temporary fix to make sure it doesn't come out but my ABS light is still on and I am getting a p0500 code. I've already replaced the sensor in the transmission which didn't resolve the issue. Why would it work for a while then stop almost every time I drive the car after a while. (ie if I leave it over night it works for a bit then stops)

My ABS light is on but I think its related to the sensor as the brakes work normally and I pressed the brakes 40 with the car off times then started the car and the ABS system charges up within a matter of 15-20 seconds and the brakes work again. I will order a couple of new ABS speed sensors and replace the front ones since its about $40. But if that doesnt resolve it, is it possible that it could be an electrical issue? If so where do I even start to look?

Question for all who posted is the condition you experienced with all of this the ABS or wheel speed sensor? I had this same thing going on and it was scary. I had ABS light, VSC Trac, and VSC off lights on while driving my 2001 LX and the ABS would kick on and stop the vehicle while I was pushing the gas to accelerate. It was very dangerous to say the least, but the ABS sensor on the front drivers side was bad and it seemed to take care of it all after it was replaced.

Everyone varies on why it happened, some had a Master Cylinder failure, some had ABS module (blacl box) failure, some were accumulator.

Got you, I was just wondering if I was in for more problems it all seems to be good now.
