So my 2000 LC often makes a noise when I first crank up, sounds like the pump under the dash struggling to pressurize. I've been told that is for the ABS but my brakes work fine. Sounds like an expensive fix so my question is what are my options? Any help is appreciated!

Is the antenna taken?

I got same problem when start up and shut down and it ran for about 5 second. Couldn't figure out what it was on a few days old acquired vehicles. Finally realize it was the antenna motor running with a broken mast, which I knew when bought.

If it turns out to be a failing brake booster pump (under the hood on the firewall next to the brake master cylinder), get it replaced right away. Pump failure means pretty much no braking force. The pump makes a normal noise when running, but it should not sound rough or act like it doesn't want to run.
