Im about to attempt tearing into my HG project. Im a little nervous but what the heck, i think i will give it a shot anyway. It is a 3FE and im hoping someone can stear me to a thread or DVD like idahodougs that is for my engine(not sure if his is for a 3FE). Something like a step-by-step tutorial. I am going to pick up a FSM and a haynes manual to help me along. I searched and found a lot of head gasket info but I was unable to determine if there is one for an 88 3FE. I appreciate any and all help.
Thanks,
Paul

Paul- I did mine by myself when it overheated and cracked the head. Nobody would touch it. Bought a used head and had it rebuilt at a shop in Minneapolis, where I was living at the time. Not hard to do, just take your time, write notes or take pictures of what you disaasemble. I unbolted the exhaust and intake manifold and pushed them out of the way, and removed as little as I had to. Rented an engine hoist to help me reinstall the head, since it's pretty heavy, around 100#. Be careful when you torque the bolts (I reused all of them, carefully cleaning out the holes in the block, and threads on the bolts. They worked fine). Careful to get the manifold to seat properly. I bought new washers for the fuel system. Borrow a fire extinguisher when you fire it up, just in case...Mine fired up after a couple of turns. Worked great after that too. Take your time. And, good luck... :cheers:Ned

Ned,
thanks for the boost of confidence! I will keep everyone posted on my progress and bumps along the way.
Thanks,
Paul
