Sorry long....Pending purchase of 2008 kdss / sport with 138k on it. 14.5k with tax/registration/fee comes to just over 16k. I did some homework and the lexus maintenance logs identified that waterpump/timing belt not done. It aslo had some other issues last record at 95k): Description: CUSTOMER DECLINES ANY REPAIRS AT THIS TIME ~|~C/S LEAKING COOLANT, PLEASE CHECK AND ADVISE ~|~RADIATOR LEAKING ~|~CUSTOMER DECLINES ANY REPAIRS AT THIS TIME.
Cosmetically looks great but did value ck on Edmunds states 10k (which I find fairly accurate for other cars). Any advice welcome.

You haven't really asked a question here... What are you looking for advice on?

Are you buying from the original owner or a dealer (assume the latter due to mention of fees, but could be registration fees)? If the PO, ask them about it. They may have declined the work at the dealer to take to an indy shop for cheaper repairs. Or they may have ignored it. Did you run a carfax, that might help fill in the gaps. Are you seeing any leaks from the radiator, etc? Chances are if the radiator was leaking at 95k, it has been replaced (can't imagine a damaged radiator lasting another 40k).

Thanks for the reply. Yes, it's with a dealer. The Carfax is light on details for number of records. I agree on it lasting that long and if leaking there would be a smell. That being said in reading other post if they were always responding to problems rather than being proactive it's really bad for the GX. I'm just not experienced enough to form a knowledgeable view on the risk - and I'm in risk management.

Thanks again for the reply!

Thanks

Yes that truck is expensive, and yes, it probably needs/needed a radiator. Be sure to check the Lexus repair history using the VIN - far more useful than Carfax.

Thanks so much, they saidwill likely "raise" price if I don't take offer. If someone wants to take a stab it's at Emich Volkswagen in Denver.

Pulling trigger on one tomorrow (deposit made) so will hopefully be part of the gang next week.

THANKS!!!!
