AAWWW YEAH, Volvo V60 seats...

You think I'm slow or something:hhmm:? The Volvo seat frames are alum. (factory) new seat frames that I fabricated are steel 1.5"x1/4". Hardware used IS gr. 8- in tapped holes with locktight- 4 per rail = 8 per seat. New steel frames support entire weight, only forces these seats/frames would see would be vertical or side sheer. Seat belts still in factory locations. My reasoning for going this route was one of the factory (Volvo/alum.) mount tabs cracked in my hand! FYI- stock 60/62 seat brackets are made of stamped 1/8" steel. I guarantee you these are over engineered if anything, thank you for your concern though.

Be sure to check out my thread on retreading tires with duct tape:hillbilly:

" I know the seats are comfy but you gotta be safe.

Dynosoar:zilla:

Come on! THEY ARE VOLVO SEATS... they must be safe already! :D

Seriously, seats are the best coin on my old 40 I have spent to date!

Nice job!

Nice setup! Just wondering if the passenger seat is heated as well? I don't see any seat controls other than forward/back and up/down on the passenger side? At least the drivers side pics have other visable push buttons on the side control panel that look like heat controls (hi,lo,off?). Heated seats are more of a wife's preference than they are mine (she's a SoCal Girl stuck in PA) so having that heated option on any new-to-be-swapped-in-seats is a MUST!
Any luck getting your seats fully operational and has anyone put these in their 40 yet? How's the fitment???

AFAIK, they're all setup to have heat. The extra buttons on the D-side are for memory settings.

I still haven't tackled the heaters and memory computer, but I'll get to eventually :D

cheers.

Resurrecting this thread because I'm going to keep my eyes open for a set of these seats now...

One question though (didn't see it asked in the thread); did you end up having to trim the transmission tunnel at all, and if so, how much?

Okay I lied, here's another question: how far is your head from the roof when you sit in 'em? I'm 6'1" and the height of the stock seat is about perfect for me, height-wise. I could probably handle maybe an inch higher, but not much more.

Its been quite a while now, but yes I did trim the trans tunnel I belive philos1 did on his as well. IIRC I just trimmed a small rib, not all the way though? I went for the low low ride as well-figuring the seats have hight adjust, plus I am 6'6". I have never had any issues with head room.

The funny thing is when people get into my truck and say things like "man, I had no idea these older Cruisers were like THIS!" :D Cant wait for the 5.7/700R4 now!

Did you fab up your brackerty the same way Philos1 did his?

I trimmed the same little rib on the sides of the trans tunnel as well. I'm 6'0" and I've got room to spare as well.

cheers.

You lucky SOB. Where in L.A. did you get them. I want to do the same thing and I'm in Valencia. Seat Heaters would be nice.

No I fabbed mine in differently, there was a short writup earlier in this exact thread. I found the Volvo mounting tabs to be too flimsy for my tastes.

Randy, just call some local wrecking yards and ask for 'em. Mine are from a 2002 S60. You can come by anytime and check mine out.

I never got around to hooking up the heaters before I sold the 60... Maybe try a local Volvo mechanic? Sorry I'm not much help...
