I stopped by Toyota of Easley a few weeks ago b/c I was driving right by and had a few minutes I needed to burn before my next meeting. I was there about 15 minutes and left when I was pushed deep into the "new car sales pitch." The salesman was literally trying to talk to me and another woman at the SAME time. Both myself and the woman were standing beside the salesman and were giving each other WTF looks! All I wanted to know was what cars they had at their other lot. I don't "roll like dat" so I walked off.

Well, after about three or four phone calls from the salesman as 'follow-ups' all within about 36 hours I told him that I would be in contact with him if I needed his assistance and to please stop calling.

Now fast forward - Since then I have received approximately 16-20 additional calls from the same guy! (I haven't talked to him again b/c the calls always come during business hours when I'm busy - he has horrible (or maybe good) timing depending on how you look at it.) ETA: He has even called after 8 at night - one time three calls back to back about 1 minute apart!

The salesman's manager called a few days ago and I politely explained that I was to receive NO additional phone calls...but guess what...the sucker called again a few minutes ago and of course I was on another line. I have a call into management (am awaiting a return call) and will in no uncertain terms explain that I will not receive one additional call from Toyota of Easley.

At no point was I going to buy a car from Toyota of Easley - I only wanted to look at a couple of cars w/ various options. If I buy a new Toyota it will of course be from RHT.

Good grief!!!!!

Here is what I have learned -
1) NEVER give your number to a car salesman.
2) NEVER go anywhere but RHT if at all possible.
3) NEVER give your number to a car salesman.
4) and NEVER go anywhere but RHT!

AAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGHH!!!!!

There might be a new "man wrestling" thread soon!

I'm headed to 'time out.'

 and

I know the feeling. I test drove a Mazda 3 the other day and told them the price I would pay. After haggling I told them it was ok and I would look at another dealer. Now they have been calling 3-4 times daily since Monday.

I always give them Dan's number when I stop into a dealer. I haven't had a single callback. :D

No one calls me back. I wonder why?

I think it has something to do with me finding out their address and going to visit them...not sure though.

I think it has a lot to do with Steve and Steen being complete push overs ;)

You might be getting a call about a new 200... I picked up a very nice brochure and a promise that I'd get a call when one came in. They are ready to deal.

I don't drive anything newer than 10 years... I'll see if they can hold it for me that long.

I know that feeling though I made an exception with the latest work sedan...

Based on reading another thread, you and I need to catch up RE: oil cooled engines. Getting ready to make a similar acquisition.

You need to report that to Toyota. I think a regional manager would be horrified to know that that is how some salespeople are representing the brand.

Something similar happened here locally. Except in that instance the salesman said something to the effect that "if you don't buy this truck, I'll probably just kill myself". The guy he was talking to nearly busted a gut laughing so hard. He filed a complaint with Toyota, and got a personal call from the owner of the dealership promising that it would never happen again. The person at Toyota suggested that too many complaint call could actually jeopardize a dealerships ability to obtain vehicles.

Bottom line: Report that bullsh*t

The simplest solution is the following (from Steve's original post):

Here is what I have learned -
1) NEVER give your number to a car salesman.

Though, buying new is ALWAYS a bad idea IMO...

What are you looking at? I'm exploring mid-80's 911's. Fair number out there to choose from but not too many on this coast, and they seem to be all over the board price wise. Leary of getting into anything I can't see and get to a dealership to look over first... but the west coast rust free belt is enticing. Worked for the 40.

What thread are we in... this is a bad hi-jacking.

Let's get in touch and talk.

I had a great experience at RHT. I didn't buy, but the guys were really cool.

ralph hayes truly is the best . . . went down there to get some work done on our 60 and test drove a new fj with my dad b/c he is actually interested in one . . . they got his info but have never called . . . either really BAD service, or just really considerate! never know
