The only thing that I don't like about those above linked Hayden coolers is the barbed fittings.

I'm surprised you feel like that. These coolers are super high quality "stacked plate" coolers. The barbed fitting are very similar to what Toyota uses on the FJ62 radiator fittings.

They also sell coolers with threaded fittings if you prefer, but that'smore work and probably overkill anyway.
 
After having suffered a trans cooler hose that was blown off of such a barb in cold weather, though it was a lessor cooler so it probably was a lessor barb too, I resolved to always use the Push-Loc/Barb-tite type of hose end. They don't blow off, they don't leak, and they don't want or need a hose clamp. We use them exclusively on systems up to 100 psi in the dyno/test cell here at work. MAF uses them on their trans-transfer case hose dealie.

I've no issue with the coolers themselves, that type is my second choice. First being the Setrab design which has fins between the plates for even more cooling surface area, but those don't come at anything close to the linked prices.
