I have a 99 100 series and noticed that when I switched from High range to Low range; there was what I am calling a small "electric" sounding motor going on and then off...It appeared to be coming from the left hand side of the driver's seat. Not sure about that though...The LC ran fine both in high and low ranges. The diff lock worked too...I was thinking that my mirror switch was going bad. But, all seemed fine...

Just a weird sound...Any thoughts?

test it again? when's the last time you put it into low range?

Did it make the noise consistently, every time you switched from H to L?

You probably just have a noisy CDL actuator motor like dennis was saying, but it's hard to judge for sure without being there to hear it.

Can you try to actuate the locker manually to see if you can duplicate the noise?

I will try later to manually see if it works...Everything was working top-notch...rear diff, arb front, 4 low, etc. The actuator motor sounds like it just made a noise that took me by surprise....

On a side note, this would be something to look into. It takes no more than an hour (from what I've heard) and all you need to buy is the factory CDL switch that plugs right into the dash (you might already have it, cant remember). It will offer you more versatility off road by being able to unlock everything in Lo.
