My daughters Camry needed a water pump. It's a V6. It's had a PS pump whine since she bought it so that's getting replaced as well. Working with my parts guy we went forward with a timing belt as well since I'm in there.

While the idler pulley isn't gone it is well on it's way, spinning freely and sounding a little dry. If I replace this item it means the car is down for another week as I only have weekends to work on it.

It does have a rubber seal on the exposed side and I'm thinking I can maybe repack this thing to get another 60k out of it.

Any suggestions on this? Maybe some grease recommendations. It's my daughters 1 year anniversary with her boyfriend and when I mentioned the car being down during this occasion things got real emotional.

I've got no idea Rick but I need to the same on V6 Camry as well (92). I was going to do both the timing belt and water pump.

Once you're done, please let me know the banana count. It sure looks tight in there.

While you are at it you might check the camshaft seals, we just replaced them on our 94 Camry, they were leaking. The dealer wanted to do the timing belt but we just did that 20,000 miles ago, so we left that alone. Our Camry has a 144,000 miles on it for point of reference.

Hey Rick,

I would replace it, grease won't fix the worn bearing. R&R of the waterpump on the corolla and camry suck. I alway replace the idler pully with the timming belt. Call pepboy's and napa by me. Napa sells the idler with the timming belt kit for the corolla. Pepboy's is seperate and much cheaper. Let me know if you need help. I am guessing my hands might fit better than yours in those spaces. On the cam seals if not leaking don't screw with them.

First thing in the morning it's off to the autoparts store. Going to try and get everything back together by the end of the day.

So does Napa not sell the bearing separate, it's like one of the closest ones

Not sure about Napa having them seperate.

I know it's not the closest one but Sanel has a parts distribution center for the upper northeast in Dover NH. It is open on Sunday's but cash only. They should have the part.
