Undocumented Mechanic-I Am Not CDAN
Greetings fellow Arizona type Cruiser and/or Toyota brethren.
A some of you may or may not know, I'm a member of the Honeywell 4x4 club.
And being a member of that group I have a yearly event/run that I organize.
I think I may need some help this year. So here's a little back ground:
About 9 years ago one of our senior members (Sam Russell) came up with a great idea to have our club sponsor a day of 4 wheelin' for kids and families from the Easter Seals Society. It became an annual event ever since. About 4 years ago, Sam's health forced him to turn over the organization of this run to someone else. I volunteered to keep it alive because I think it's one of the best things that I and our club had ever done/do.
Fast forward to this year. Our good friend Sam passed away in October : frown: I have vowed to keep this tradition going in his memory. This year has turned out to be a little more difficult with the changes in contact personnel that happens quite frequently in organizations like Easter Seals. January was traditionally our month to do this, but I was unable to get it pulled off by then. Fortunately I've got a new date and plan for March.
But I think the date change has caused some scheduling problems with getting people to commit to making the trip.
That's where you guys come in
What I have planned is a mild trip through some trails and washes in the White Tanks area, lunch on the trail, followed by a visit to the World Wildlife Zoo in the afternoon.

What I need are some patient drivers willing to donate their time, vehicle and gas for the day.
You need to be aware that most of the kids are developmentally delayed in some way or physically handicapped. Some can have excited or erratic behavior at times, some are wheel chair bound. So you have to be able to handle a passenger that might scream at in appropriate times or drool on your seats. Not tying to be funny, just telling it like it is. It's also possible you could end up chauffeuring a parent, sibling or staff member. Some vehicles end up carrying a wheelchair or coolers. We've also had passengers want to switch vehicles mid trail. It's also possible you could show up and not be needed. If so, you're still quite welcome to come along. Typically we have had last minute stragglers show up and still have been able to take them along. We've never had to leave anyone behind that wanted to come. I'd like to keep it that way. Unfortunately the nature of the Easter Seals staff always seems to prevent me from getting an accurate and up to date count. But we do the best we can.
You'll also be responsible for your admission to the zoo ($15), or hang out in the parking lot until the group is ready to return. Your welcome and encouraged to bring the kids along. This is a great chance for them to interact with kids different than them.
Here's the itinerary:
Saturday, March 11th.
Meet at the NW corner of 75th ave and McDowell, 8:00 AM (Desert Sky Esplanade)
CB ch 14
Be gassed and ready to go.
Bring your lunch (it's possible Easter Seals may provide us lunch but don't count on it)
Plan on being out all day. Most likely be back to the meet point by 4:00
If you think you can help us out, what I need to know is:
Yes you'll be there.
How many passengers you can take.
Is the vehicle enclosed or not. (either is ok)
So if you think you can back us up on this, any help would be much appreciated
