Hey Everyone - I have an 03 w/ 96k and the a/c wasn't working which turned out to be a crack in the rear line. I had the repair completed and when I took possession, the temperature in NJ was in the low 70's and the a/c was blowing ice cold. Great I thought, one item off the maintenence list!

I really didn't use the a/c much after that since the spring weather's been really nice around here but yesterday we hit high 80's/90's. Now, I park the truck all day in a commuter lot so the sun's beating down on the it and what I notice is the a/c is not really cooling down the interior. The air is not ice cold (or as cold as it should be), even after 20/30 minutes. I put a thermometer in the vent and the best I got was 75, with the a/c on auto/max cold

This morning, it was 70 and cloudy with humidity. After the truck warmed up a bit, I put on the a/c and its blowing ice cold. Put the thermometer in the vent and I got 63 degrees, a/c on auto/max cold.

My question is, as a new LX owner, should the a/c be able to push ice cold air after baking in the sun all day or do I need to have something done to the system to make it perform better?

Thanks to all who answer.

Yes, Here in the UAE's 50 Degree Celsius weather I have to turn the A/C off sometimes when it's on low because it gets too cold inside.
Or maybe the GCC specs have better A/C
Edit: I had the rubber lines that go to and from the compressor rebuilt with new rubber, clamps, o-rings and Freon a few months ago

A/C specs are the same everywhere globally, I just assume not all 100's have the rear A/C which is a fully functioning second unit located around the PS rear wheelwell.

Your A/c is not functioning correctly for sure. Cause could be a myriad of things.

I would check the repair over. Look for wet/oily spots on the a/c lines. Check the condensor too. Pretty much all you can do without the proper tools. Btw if the pressure is too low your ac clutch will not engage.

I live in S. Louisiana and its usually pretty hot here. My ac blows ice cold. If I had to guess the vent temp, 40s F.

Do you have nav? If so, is the a/c "button" blinking on the climate screen?

I wouldn't even check the repair over, just go back to the shop that fixed it.

Are you sure they fully charged the system for dual A/C? You have to ask how much refrigerant they charge, most system will take more than 2 lbs for a dual system and check the label under the hood for proper amount for a dual system. Have them recheck it a good A/C should drop the temp 40* plus in your vents.
