A/C on and engine pings (1 Viewer)

So it was warm today and I ran the AC on my 80.Noticed it was pinging while speeding up.But only when the AC was on.Is this normal?Any insight would be great.Thanks

check your ignition timing,

the AC adds more load and more heat to the engine, both make it more susceptible to pining if it was close before.

you also could be running hot (the gauge will not tell you)

I have been meaning to do the temp guage mod.Better get it done before it really warms up.What should the timing be set at?

The sticker on the hood's underside will tell you how much advance and how to short the contacts to set base timing. It's 3 degrees BTDC if I recall.
